Helping Muslim Women to Leave Abusive Relationships
Sharia Councils were set up in the UK to provide Muslim women with a mechanism to dissolve their marriages according to sharia. This is the only option for women who have an Islamic niqah that is not registered as a civil marriage and whose husbands do not agree to divorce them by talaq.
First Female Panelist in UK
I have been a panel member of the Shariah Council at Birmingham Central Mosque since 2005 and was the first female Shari’a council panellists in Britain.
